About Us

Parallax Accounting is a dynamic accounting firm with a focussed group of professionals who are passionate about accounting.

Our directors Keith Hamilton & Shaun Otto are long time friends, having met and worked together at a Toowoomba based accounting firm. Keith and Shaun have a wealth of knowledge and more than 40 years combined experience, in July 2014 they joined forces and Parallax Accounting was formed.

Our client base is Australia wide, including the agricultural sector, building & construction, mining, tourism & hospitality and medical fields.

Keith Hamilton FNTAA (Director)

After 10 years in the accounting industry, Keith started his own practice, KRH Accounting, in 2010 to better service the needs of his clients. In July 2014, his client base had expanded to a size whereby Shaun & Keith could start Parallax Accounting as equal partners.

Before finding his true passion in accounting, Keith had a successful career working in the sciences for 17 years after completing a Bachelor of Applied Science in Biology & Chemistry. His accounting career started in 2001 and in 2011 he became a registered tax agent. Keith has gained a Graduate Diploma Financial Management (accounting) and was admitted as a Fellow of the NTAA in 2014.

Outside of the office, Keith likes socialising, enjoying and cellaring wines, attending the theatre, and playing table tennis fixtures.

Shaun Otto CPA (Director) 

Shaun has been advising clients about their taxation affairs for over 20 years and has developed a particular passion for self-managed superannuation funds and business advisory. These two areas allow Shaun to manage the growth in a client’s business as well as their savings for retirement.  

In his time in the industry Shaun has obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree majoring in accounting from the University of Southern Queensland, has become a registered member of the CPA Australia and has gained a Diploma of Financial Planning.

When Shaun is not at the office, he enjoys family BBQ’s and camping. 

Nicole Hibbard CPA (Senior Accountant) 

Nicole started at Parallax at the beginning of 2019. She has over 25 years’ experience in the industry and is one of Parallax’s senior accountants. In her role Nicole meets with our clients and handles their accounting and taxation affairs.

Nicole graduated from the University of New England in 1986 with a Bachelor of Financial Administration. From here she gained her CPA Australia qualification in 1999.

In her spare time you’ll find Nicole catching up with family and friends, gardening and keeping fit. 

Sam Staatz ASA (Junior Accountant)

Sam joined the Parallax Team as a receptionist in 2019, in 2021 she moved into her new role as Junior Accountant. Sam works closely with Keith and Shaun and currently handles our client’s bookkeeping and basic accounting needs. Sam also manages Parallax’s marketing and social media matters.

Sam graduated from the University of Queensland in 2018 with a Bachelor of Commerce and is currently completing her Certified Practicing Accountant program. She enjoys learning the tricks of the trade from her esteemed colleagues.

When she is not at the office, Sam enjoys spending time with her fur baby, playing softball & netball and partaking in karaoke.

Bec Steger (Practice Manager)

Bec has been a member of the Parallax team since 2015 and is the glue that holds us all together. Bec’s first role here was as our administration officer, however in 2021 she moved into her new role as Practice Manager. Her role includes handling the firms human resourcing needs, managing employee performance and workflow efficiency, liaison with ASIC and various administration duties.

Bec has over 15 years’ experience working in accounting administration and is a registered Commissioner for Declarations (CDec).

Outside of work, Bec’s family and friends are at the heart of everything she enjoys to do. She’s also kept busy running after her young family.
